Everything you need to know about comparing and activating watch insurance through AION. Can’t find it here? Reach out and we’ll help directly.

Getting Started

No - AION is an independent comparison service. We match you with vetted, licensed insurers like Chubb, and the policy and any claim are handled directly by the insurer you choose.

We may receive a referral fee or commission from the insurer you choose, similar to how a travel site earns a fee when you book a flight. It never changes the price you pay, comparing and choosing a plan is always free for you.

Just the brand, model, and estimated value of your watch. For most pieces that's enough to see initial quotes, a formal appraisal is only needed for rare or heavily modified pieces.

Our partner insurers cover watches from nearly every maker, from everyday automatics to independent and vintage pieces. If a brand doesn't show up in your results, our team can usually still find a match manually.

Coverage & Policies

Most homeowner's policies cap jewelry and watch coverage around $2,000–$5,000 combined, and often exclude mysterious disappearance. AION compares standalone policies that cover each piece at its full appraised value, so you can find protection that closes that gap.

Many of the policies we compare have zero deductible on covered claims, we'll flag which ones do before you choose so there's no surprise later.

Only if the policy you choose reflects the current value. We recommend an annual check-in, or an easy in-app update, so the coverage you compare keeps pace with the market and not just your original receipt.

For most pieces, a clear photo and the manufacturer's specs are enough to get matched with quotes. Rare or heavily modified pieces may need a short appraisal, we'll tell you upfront if an insurer requires one.

Most policies we compare include worldwide coverage, though a few cap the number of consecutive days abroad. We'll show you each insurer's travel terms side by side so there's nothing to guess.

Common exclusions include intentional damage, normal wear and tear, and loss during illegal activity. Every policy is a little different, which is exactly why we show you the fine print before you choose, not after.

Claims

That depends on the insurer you choose. Most offer the option to buy the piece back at the amount paid out, or let the insurer keep it and keep your payout as-is. We'll show you each insurer's policy on this before you decide.

That depends on the insurer, but most of the providers we compare aim to resolve straightforward claims within 5–10 business days of receiving documentation.

Claims are filed directly with the insurer whose policy you activated. We'll point you to their claims line and required documents when you sign up, so you're never stuck guessing who to call.

Account & Billing

Yes. Many of the policies we compare let you schedule multiple pieces under one policy, often at a lower combined rate than insuring each individually.

Cancellation terms are set by the insurer you choose, not by AION. Most of the providers we compare allow cancellation anytime with a prorated refund, we'll flag any that don't before you commit.
